Let’s Build A More Inclusive World, Together
Architecture should reflect the diverse society it serves – but Black women are vastly underrepresented in the industry. Current data shows that just 1% of licensed architects in the USA are Black women.
Why such a lack of diversity? The Architects Foundation has identified three major hurdles that BIPOC architects face on the path to licensure:
- A lack of awareness of the profession at the K-12 level
- A lack of belonging due to the current demographics of the industry
- Particularly for Black women, disparities emerge regarding firm support for licensure, income gaps, and tuition debt
Together, we can work to change that.
Help Us Take Action
Representation in design matters, which is why Fireclay Tile has partnered with the Architects Foundation for the 5th year to sponsor a scholarship for Black women pursuing architecture.
This year, we’re aiming to raise $40,000. Fireclay has committed to donating $25,000, and we invite you to help us reach our goal to support the education of future architects.
These scholarships support more than the recipients – they benefit the architecture field as a whole, helping to raise up voices the profession is currently lacking. Architecture shapes the world we all see, and that world should have space for everybody.
With your help, we can support the next generation in the profession to build a more inclusive future. Donate and spread the word today.
For donations of $1,000 or greater, please email your company’s logo (jpeg file) to blair@fireclaytile.com to be featured on Fireclay’s Partner Page.
